Mariama Camara has founded numerous ventures aimed at promoting economic empowerment, dignity, environmental sustainability within the African fashion industry, and the MADE IN AFRICA textiles in international markets.She is the founder of Mariama Fashion Production (MFP) a leading African handmade sustainable textiles and accessories company.
She also creates designs under her own brand, MARIAMA CAMARA, a New York City based sustainable brand. She opened KANAFRIK, Africa’s first chain of sustainable stores which features natural food and natural beauty products.
Mariama Camara is also an activist and public speaker who continues to advocate for women, girls, and artisans rights in international conferences such as Oslo Freedom Forum with the Human Rights Foundation, TEDx Talk, African Union Heads of State conference and the United Nations. To continue empowering and giving voice to other social activists, she founded RAW REAL TALKS , a global talks series platform.
Her efforts have been acknowledged and highlighted globally by leading medias and organizations including CNN African Voice “Changemakers.” BBC News, TV5 Monde, and Forbes Africa.
